Shrey Tarpara

Shrey is the Team Leader of the Clarksburg High School InvenTeam and President of the Coyote Inventors Club.  He helps with nearly all aspects of the project.  He is also a member of the National Honor Society and a member of The Howl, the Clarksburg High School student newspaper.  He enjoys playing all types of sports, particularly basketball and football.

 

Alex Ivanov

Alex is one of the lead engineers on the Clarksburg High School InvenTeam.  He considers himself to be "unique" and enjoys listening to music, watching soccer and helping others. He was instrumental in the development of the Torch CordTM invention used in the InvenTeam’s grant proposal to the Lemelson-MIT Program.

 

Ian Grissom

Ian is one of the lead engineers on the Clarksburg High School InvenTeam; he is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Student Ambassadors Club at Clarksburg High School. He also enjoys practicing martial arts, and is a second degree black belt in Tang Soo Do.

 

Justin Roth

As the Director of Media and Information Technology, Justin manages all of our Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), including our web site (www.cicmd.org). He was a member of the 2008-2009 Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam at Clarksburg High School, and is also Founder and President of the school’s Web Development Club. Additionally, Justin is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society, a “Life Scout” in Boy Scout Troop 489 of Germantown, MD, an intern at the Montgomery County Historical Society, a volunteer at William B. Gibbs, Jr. Elementary School in Germantown, an employee of Pineapple Alley Catering, Inc., based in Clinton, MD, and an avid fan of NBC’s “The Office.”

 

Michael Goodier

Michael is the lead designer for the Clarksburg High School InvenTeam’s product presentation display.  In addition, he assists with the content management and design aspects of the Coyote Inventors Club website.  Also, he is a member of both the symphonic band and the Clarksburg High School Swim Team.

 

Anik Saha

Anik is the spokesperson for the Clarksburg High School InvenTeam.  He works closely with the InvenTeam’s Public Relations Representatives.  Anik is a talented musician and plays the guitar, violin, and tabla.  He is involved with Coyote Ambassadors, the SGA Senate, National Honor Society, and a member of the Clarksburg High School Tennis Team.

 

Micaela Larson

Micaela is the financial officer for the Clarksburg High School InvenTeam; she coordinates purchases and keeps track of expenditures; and, she is responsible for satisfying all financial reporting requirements to the Lemelson-MIT Program.  In her spare time, Micaela runs cross-country and track, and is a member of the Spanish National Honor Society.

 

Eric Hong

Eric is the image and design specialist for the Clarksburg High School InvenTeam. He is also a member of the Coyote Ambassadors Club, the National Honor Society, the Leo's Club and the Operation Fly Club.  Eric loves philosophy and art, and he enjoys helping others. Eric is able to speak four different languages; English, Mandarin, a dialect of Mandarin, and Cantonese. He hopes to use his experience as part of the team to pursue his future career goals upon graduating from high school.

Membership Information

 

To become a member of the Coyote Inventors Club at Clarksburg High School, a student must have a 3.5 Grade Point Average ("GPA") or above. If they do not meet this requirement the student may still become a member by submitting recommendations from two Clarksburg High School academic teachers. Ninth graders are welcome to join the club but must meet the 3.5 GPA requirement after the first marking period. Upon admittance to the club the students must agree and sign the Nondisclosure Form and the Inventors Club Membership Form.

Paul W. Koda

Mr. Koda is the founding sponsor of the Coyote Inventors Club.  He has nearly 10 years of experience in the energy, automotive, computer, and consumer products industries.  As a registered patent attorney and private practitioner, he provides valuable insight into the intellectual property issues facing young inventors.  As a teacher at Clarksburg High School, Mr. Koda’s courses include Matter and Energy, Chemistry and Advanced Placement Chemistry.  He has undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University, and a Juris Doctor from George Washington University Law School.

Sarah Costlow

Ms. Costlow has been with the Coyote Inventors Club since its inception. She is responsible for the branding, community  outreach, student -mentor coordination and is a co-author of the content curriculum for the invention process used by the club.  She comes to the Coyote Inventors with a clinical background in communication disorders and 15 years of teaching experience in areas of research, curriculum development and information technology. She is currently the Coordinator of the Signature Program at Clarksburg High School which includes the Capstone Project Program encouraging students to pursue projects in areas of strong interest and the Advanced Placement Power Scholars Program which supports students in a rigorous, enriched four year program of study at the high school level. She holds a Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders and a Master of Education in Instructional Technology.

Amy Gensemer

Amy Gensemer is the Resource Teacher for the Career and Technology Education Department at Clarksburg High School. She holds a Masters of Arts and Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology Education. Additionally, she has earned her Administration and Supervision certification and Project Lead the Way Teacher certification for Introduction to Engineering Design and Principles of Engineering. She
works for the International Technology Education Association as one of six Curriculum Specialist for Engineering by Design. Mrs. Gensemer has
authored a NASA education unit titled Integrated Transportation Systems through a partnership of NASA and ITEA. She has collaborated on several MCPS curriculum writing projects related to Technology Education, including Creative Engineering, Advanced Design Applications, Designing Technology Solutions and Foundations of Technology.
